However if you want to spice it up, a fresh diced Jalapeno pepper is a great addition to add an extra kick while still complementing the ingredients used! Have extra time for some extra flavor? Instead of using frozen corn, char an ear of corn on the grill for that extra smoky kick and gourmet flavor worth sharing with friends and family.
Originating from the Rio Grande Valley, Tex-Mex combines cuisine from Mexico with ingredients more commonly found in Southern Texas/Northern Mexico. Though they share similarities, there are many distinguishing factors that keep Tex-mex from being Mexican. Characterized by the use of black beans, cumin, wheat flour and yellow cheese, Tex-Mex has its own unique flavor profile that is entirely different from traditional Mexican food. Popularized in San Antonio Texas, dishes such as chili, nachos and fajitas are now a staple of Texas cuisine.
This dish is easy to meal prep to have delicious homemade lunches throughout the week. To avoid making the rice soggy while in the fridge, package the sour cream and salsa in a separate container!
