From casseroles to risottos to a recipe for Mexican Rice to your favorite seafood paella recipe, there’s truly very little you can’t do with rice. And by very little, we mean very little. These versatile grains can even be used to make tasty drinks. That’s right, we said drinks. Ever heard of horchata? If you have, you already know how much a treat this sweet drink really is, and if you haven’t, let us tell you about it.
While there are many variations in horchata recipes throughout the different countries in Latin America, you will typically find a few standard ingredients that are used in most: rice, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla or sugar. Regardless of what recipe you follow, the sweet and cinnamony rice drink is an irresistibly sweet and cool drink that is hard to beat.
For an aromatic variety, use our Jasmine Mahatma® Rice. Adjust the water to rice ratio accordingly as it is 1½ cups of water per each cup of rice.
